Saving Money On Birthday Party Accessories

January 11th, 2012

It is significantly more difficult to find birthday accessories at a dollar store than most traditional birthday party decorations like balloons or banners, but that does not mean that you need to spend a fortune on them every time your child celebrates another birthday. On the contrary there are many different ways that you can get classy and flashy birthday party accessories without shelling out a ton of money or making do with poor quality supplies, either. The trick is to narrow down the list of accessories you want for the party and then figure out what you already have.

When we talk about birthday accessories we don’t mean the classic decorations, but rather the most flashy center pieces on tables, personalized candles for the cake, party favors to hand out to the guests and so on. You can avoid buying some of these entirely, particularly the table center pieces, by simply making them on your own. This is not only a great way to save money, but it is also quite classy, too. Another tactic to consider is to invest your money in getting good quality accessories just once, and then re-using them each birthday like you would do with Christmas decorations. Just because such and such an accessory was used for one party does not mean it now needs to be thrown in the garbage. If the accessory is good enough quality you can expect to see many years of use out of it rather than simply disposing of it as soon as the party is over, only to have to buy it all again next year.

Don’t skimp out on adding some classy party accessories and favors to your next party, but don’t break the piggy bank either. Narrow your list of potential accessories down, see if you can personally make anything on that list, and then purchase the rest from discount party supply vendors and wholesalers instead of the more expensive party stores. If you have to buy it, make sure you buy something that will last for more than one party.
